I’m going to go out on a limb here. I bet that you don’t sit around with your friends talking about the virtues of Oracal 651 and other vinyl sticker materials. Truth be told, you probably don’t care a lick about the materials used for vinyl stickers. All you are concerned about is having your custom vinyl decals or stickers last forever, look good the entire time, and you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for them. We differ on that.

How I See Vinyl Sticker Materials

I could talk all day long about the advantages and disadvantages of using truly transparent transfer tape as opposed to paper-based tape. Sometimes I would travel halfway across the country to sit in on a seminar on how to properly configure a vinyl cutter. I want to be sure that when you I a vector image through it comes out perfectly. I want to be sure it only cuts in on the top two layers of the vinyl, the adhesive and the face film.

That’s because having an intimate knowledge of vinyl sticker construction is crucial to turning out a quality product.

Politicians and celebrities love to talk about themselves. I love to jabber on lovingly about “kiss cuts”, weeding and transference to substrate.

These are all important terms and phrases that have to do with the materials used for vinyl stickers.

Of course, you have to have the right vinyl cutter as well. There are literally hundreds of models to choose from. Some cutters are not as precise on smaller, finer cuts, and they’re kinda noisy. This doesn’t mean that this type of cutter isn’t perfect for certain jobs. It just means that it is not perfect for other jobs.
